Option 1: Driving the Sea-to-Sky Highway Yourself<\/b><\/h3>\n

Driving gives you full control over timing and stops. It also makes you responsible for the hardest part of a winter ski trip: the road.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Sea-to-Sky Highway climbs from sea level at Howe Sound into the Coast Mountains, and conditions can change quickly between Squamish and Whistler. From October 1 to March 31, winter tires are required on Highway 99 north of Horseshoe Bay. Tires must carry the mountain\/snowflake symbol or the M+S (mud and snow) symbol and have at least 3.5 mm of tread. If you are renting a car, confirm it has proper winter tires before you leave the city.<\/span><\/p>\n
